Grateful

This is the time of year to reflect on being grateful. I have had more time lately to reflect. And am learning that all the things in life – good and bad – have brought me to this place. This place is peace and contentment. Life is still life and complex. However, I’m finding as the apostle Paul said in Philippians 4:11, “Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.”

When life doesn’t turn out how I thought it might, I can still learn to be content and even grateful. As I look back over the last several years, the details of certain things have brought me to now. I could not have orchestrated such a thing. So I know and have experienced that God in his infinite wisdom, has brought these things, even difficult things, to fruition. I am in awe and wonder.

From Jesus Calling, Enjoying Peace in His Presence by Sarah Young, on October 27, “I, the Creator of the universe, am the most creative Being imaginable. I will not leave you circling in deeply rutted paths. Instead, I will lead you along fresh trails of adventure, revealing to you things you did not know.” This is what He and I are experiencing. When I let go of expectations, then I can trust Him which leads to being grateful.

Also, from Jesus Calling, Enjoying Peace in His Presence by Sarah Young, on November 22, “Thankfulness is not some sort of magic formula; it is the language of Love, which enables you to communicate intimately with Me.” Yes and yes again! Love is Jesus! He infuses and pours into me. Being grateful and thankful is a result of spending time and silence in the presence of Jesus.

Until next time . . .
